Michigan Raised Queen Bees
Raising quality queen bees is my passion and I never tire of learning new and better ways to produce the best queens possible. I first learned to graft queens in 2015, but I also employ methods of natural cell production to allow the workers to select their preferred larvae for future queens.
For the past several years I have produced anywhere from a few dozen to up to 300 queens a season over multiple cycles.
I generally select for colonies that are gentle, productive, generate propolis, and show mite and disease resistance. My base stock comes from carniolan, Italian VSH, swarm and feral bee rescues, and treatment-free stock from other beekeepers in the midwest.
